September 8, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 19 Huntsville Club Members and 1 Guest enjoying the noon buffet at Don’s Family Style Restaurant today.  Merl’s guest was Carla Hubbard ___________ ?  Jerry noted our Pancake Breakfast during Old Settlers’ is next Saturday, the 16th, and will be held inside the Community Center adjacent to the Huntsville City Hall.  Serving at 7:00 am until 11:00 am?  Dan gave a fine report on the dove hunt with 42 shooters and 46 contributors totaling around $6,000 for the Huntsville Rotary Club Foundation.  Everyone had a good time even though the doves were lower in numbers than normal, probably due to warm weather up north and migrating birds may not have travelled down in mass amounts.

Our Weatherman gave us a mild, dry report, not expecting any precip from the hurricanes as had happened in past years.  A Fall Rotary-Ann Party is planned for September 19th at the Lodge. Need to let Dan know the head count and to bring a covered dish compatible with steaks.  Roy noted that County Government Day, sponsored by our Club, will be held on September 27th with an estimated 150 students from area schools taking a tour at about 8:30 am of the new Courthouse, visiting with Elected Officials, then travel to the MACC Auditorium for pizza from Dominoes around 11:30 am.

Roy gave the program this week and gave an extensive history lesson about grape and wine industry in Missouri.

Next week is Kelly Shelby’s turn at the podium.  Our President, Ken noted that our District Governor will meet with us on October 6th.  Then Ken asked Clay for the Last Word before adjourning.
