September 29, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

The final & fifth Friday of the ninth month found 13 Huntsville Rotarians and 5 Guests enjoying the noon buffet at Don’s.  President Ken called the meeting to order at 12:30 pm and asked Bishop Roy to return our thanks to our Lord, followed by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.

Guests introduced were Westran Students of the Month, Jenna Wyrick and Brenden Cobb.  Also, Pam Fuemmeler & Bobby Riley with the Moberly Rotary Club, and, Martha Link, Gerald’s Rotary-Ann. Dan gave us a cool weekend forecast followed by a warming trend before cooling off again, and dry.  Our Leader read some emails from District explaining the GSE candidacy and various projects awarded District Grant monies, including the Huntsville Grant for City Park equipment.  The Treasurer for Life noted that quarterly dues are now due.

Our program today was by Roy and he noted that 130 students from Randolph County schools attended Government day with approximately 1/3 attending Circuit Court hearings, another 1/3 taking a tour of the offices in the new Courthouse, and the remainder were in the front parking lot checking out the Ambulance and Fire Truck on display. Each hour the students rotated until all had the opportunity to see everything, then they headed to the MACC Auditorium in Moberly for a luncheon of 45 Pizzas furnished by the Huntsville Rotary Club, and discussions with MACC faculty.  Bishop Roy also mentioned that September 29th is an important date in religion known as St. Michael’s Day.

President Ken asked Clay for the Last Word, then we were adjourned.  Next Friday our District Governor will meet with the Club and be the program.
