October 27, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 10 Huntsville Rotarians and two guests today for the final meeting of the 10th month at Don’s Restaurant in Huntsville.  President Ken called the meeting to order at 12:30 pm and led us in prayer to our Lord, and the pledge of allegiance to our flag.  Guests introduced were  David Fincher of the Moberly Rotary Club and our program Tanner Riggins.

Secretary-for-Life Richard  mentioned that CPA Pam Fuemmeler has been taking care of our IRS reporting as a 501(c)3  exempt organization for several years and he & Treasurer-for-Life Mark suggested maybe sending a small token of appreciation from the Club.  Jerry Crutchfield made a motion to do so and it was seconded and approved by voice vote.  Mark will contact a local florist and have them send a Thank You bouquet.  Weather report from Shan Depherd called for cold weather this weekend then perhaps a slight warming trend next week.  Temps to be close to normal for last of October and first part of November.  He also reminded us to drain our outside garden hoses and disconnect from faucets to prevent freeze damage.  Temps may dip into low 20° range Saturday night.

Our Leader then turned the meeting over to Richard for today’s program.  RT noted how he had traded with John Cochran while on vacation so it was his turn to provide the Speaker.  Tanner Riggins was introduced as the membership sales person for Air Evac in Moberly.  Tanner passed out some membership brochures and answered some questions about the program.  Annually, the cost for a household is $65, with discounts for longer years of membership.  The program means that a member receiving emergency care from Air Evac network will not have to pay for the helicopter transport service.  Also noted that there are other emergency helicopter providers and some are NOT in Air Evac network so you would be obligated to pay their charge which typically exceeds $40,000 for a flight from this area to a hospital in Columbia.  Air Evac network is available in over 30 states which might be useful for local travelers.

President Ken then adjourned the meeting.  Mike Cochran has a guest speaker next week, the new Director of the Randolph County Health Department.

Members present today:  Mike Cochran, Jerry Crutchfield, Clay Joiner, Ken Rathmann, Merl Riley, Mark Samp, Charlie Serio, Dan Shepherd, John Sommer, & Richard Tregnago.
