November 10, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 17 Huntsville Rotarians and 3 Guests at today’s meeting.  President Ken called the meeting to order and asked Darrel to offer a prayer of thanks to our Lord, followed by our reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Guests introduced were Moberly Rotarian Bill Stuart, Dan’s friend Ben Williams, and today’s Speaker Pat Pratt.

No Old or New Business offered, however Richard noted that we are now down to 29 members with at least 2 more to resign at the end of this year.  May need to make a stronger effort in member retention and search for new qualified people that would add to our Club’s well being.  Dan gave us a typical November forecast with a warming trend next week, but possibly remain dry.  Good deer hunting weather.

President Ken then asked Jerry to introduce today’s program.  Pat Pratt is the new Editor of the Moberly Monitor-Index.  He’s been on duty for about 40 days and is asking for citizen input to make the paper more important in the community.  He is wanting to alter the direction of the current paper by infusing more local stories and highlighting the Good Samaritans of the community and focusing on local stories of interest.  He’ll need involvement from the area residents to achieve these goals. We wish him well as some of us still get a pleasure from holding a book or paper, turning the pages, and reading the message at our own pace.

After a brief question/answer period, the meeting was adjourned.  Next week is Chris Dady’s turn at the podium.

Members in attendance today were:  Phil Brown, John Cochran, Mike Cochran, Jerry Crutchfield, Darrel Hansen, Dub Hayes, Clay Joiner, Gerald Link, Roy Morales, Ken Rathmann, Merl Riley, Mark Samp, Tim Seidel, Charlie Serio, Dan Shepherd, John Sommer, & Richard Tregnago.
