May 23, 2018 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 9 Huntsville Rotarians and 2 Guests present at today’s meeting when President Ken rang the bell at 12:30 PM and opened the meeting by requesting Bishop Roy to return our thanks in prayer to our Lord, followed by our reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Guests introduced were:  Moberly Rotarian Bobby Riley, and, our Speaker, Jeremiah Terrell.

There was no Old or New Business offered, so our Leader asked Dan for updates on the weather and Fish Fry.  Going to be above seasonable temps this coming weekend and relatively dry.  Our annual Fish Fry will be held at Shepherd’s Lodge next Thursday evening, May 31st, with social hour at 6:00 PM and meal to begin at 7:00.  Several Rotary dignitaries will be on hand for this event and there will be a good speaker for our program.  Please let Jan or Dan know if you are coming, and how many in your group, so abundant seating can be provided.  Dan noted he is receiving several reservations for the September 1st Dove Hunt.  Your $125 donation goes to our Club’s Foundation.  This provides the funds for our scholarships program.

President Ken then asked Roy to introduce today’s program.  Roy traded with Clay who was scheduled to be out of town this week.  Our Speaker was Jeremiah Terrell with the University of Missouri Extension and he is based in Randolph County as a Regional Human Development and Family Science Specialist.  Jeremiah received his B.A. in Counseling from CCCB in Moberly in 2004, and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Stephens College in 2013.  Prior to joining MU Extension, Jeremiah worked for Burrell Behavioral Health. Also, he has worked for School Aged Child Care through the Moberly Public School District.  In addition, he has worked in educating adults with developmental disabilities in being self-sufficient.  Jeremiah’s list of Program Areas include the subjects of Parents and Families, Aging Issues, and, Behavioral Health. Jeremiah had several handouts today and stresses the University of Missouri Extension is “your source for practical education on almost anything”.  While most of us can Google information over the internet, some indications that the answers may be questionable in fact.  MU is a research-based facility, which endeavors to present the answers as fact based on qualified research.

In absence of Clay, President Ken gave our Last Word.  Gerald Link is to be the program chair for May 30th, then we were adjourned.

Members present today:  Jerry Crutchfield, Chris Dady, Harry Hall, Roy Morales-Kuhn, Mark Nichols, Ken Rathmann, Tim Seidel, Dan Shepherd, and Richard Tregnago.
