March 17, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

This St Patrick’s Day found 15 Huntsville Rotarians and 1 Guest enjoying the noon buffet at Don’s.  President-Elect Ken called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. and asked Roy to return our Thanks to our Lord in Prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Guest introduced was Dr. David Fincher of the Moberly Rotary Club. Our temporary Leader next asked for any Old or New Business, with none presented.  Then, we were provided with a weather forecast typical of entering Spring from a mild winter.  Temps to be fairly normal with some chances of scattered showers.  Dan requested a vote from our group on asking Russ to break out his fishing pole so we could have a Rotary-Ann Fish Fry in May.  A unanimous yes vote assured Russ he will spend some time on the water soon. P.E. Ken will attend the PETS sessions in Jefferson City at the end of March as he prepares to take over the 2nd time he has been called to lead our Club.  His first time was back in the late 1970′s.

Ken asked Roy to present today’s program.  Bishop Roy gave a thorough historical perspective of St. Patrick, noting the change of colors from blue to green associated with the Saint as the immersion of several societies blended over the centuries in what we know now as Ireland.

Our Leader next requested the Last Word from Clay before adjourning the meeting.  Next week’s program is sponsored by Kelly.
