January 5, 2018 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

The first meeting of year 2018 found 15 Huntsville Rotarians and -0- Guests enjoying the noon buffet at Don’s Family Style Restaurant in Huntsville.  President Ken rang the bell at 12:30 to start the meeting and led us in prayer of thanks, followed by our reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.

Our Leader asked for us to keep Charles & Harry in our prayers at this time.  No Old or New Business, however, our Club Secretary mentioned that some visitors were  forgetting to pay the $10 for their meal.  Our Club decided to mention the payment for each meal was due that day of their attendance, unless other arrangements have been made.  The Secretary was asked to draft a letter for our President to sign addressed to the Randolph County Commission turning over to the County any rights the Club may have due to the construction of the Heli-pad on County property.   Also noted was that Rotary International & District wants the name of our President-Elect who will serve as Club President on July 1, 2019.  We should select someone soon.

Weatherman Dan gave us a chilly weekend report with chance of rain/ sleet/ice followed by a warmup next week, then turning a bit colder next weekend.

President Ken then asked Bishop Roy to present the program due to Clay’s prior commitment and also gave us the Last Word.

Our Leader noted that Gerald has the program for January 12th, then we were adjourned.

Members present today:  Phil Brown, John Cochran, Mike Cochran, Chris Dady, Dub Hayes, Gerald Link, Roy Morales, Mark Nichols, Ken Rathmann, Merl Riley, Mark Samp, Tim Seidel, Dan Shepherd, Richard Tregnago, & Wayne Wilcox.
