January 19, 2018 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

The 3rd meeting of the 1st month found 14 Huntsville Rotarians enjoying the noon buffet at Don’s Family Style Restaurant in Huntsville.  No Guests were present today.  President Ken rang the bell to call the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. and offered a prayer of Thanks to our Lord, followed by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Our prayers to Charles Fleming’s family as they mourn his passing, with visitation at the Cater Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00, and services to be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church Monday at 11:00 a.m., and, also to keep Harry in our thoughts as he battles his health condition.  Dub decided to resign from the Club, and even though he won’t get this email, just know his presence will be missed.  At this writing, our Club membership stands at 22.

Our local weather prognosticator gave us a mild and warm weekend forecast with light rain possibly Sunday.  Next week the temps should be near normal for January, somewhere in the mid 40′s daytime.  Discussion of a winter party was held and noted a Valentine’s Day Party may have to change to a March date.  President-of-Vice Dan will get back to us soon on the date.  Foundation Chair Dan also quoted that our Club has qualifying “points” enabling anyone to acquire the coveted Paul Harris Fellowship at half-price.  See Dan for more info.  S4L Richard mentioned we should be selecting a 2018-2019 President-Elect.  Jerry will be incoming Prez on July 1 and will need a backup person.  T4L Mark noted that dues are now due and he has made payment to District and RI in full.

No program was presented today so spontaneous discussion abounded until adjournment by 1:00 p.m.  Next week is Roy Morales’ turn at the podium.

Members present today:  John Cochran, Mike Cochran, Jerry Crutchfield, Chris Dady, Roy Morales, Mark Nichols, Ken Rathmann, Merl Riley, Mark Samp, Tim Seidel, Kelly Shelby, Dan Shepherd, Richard Tregnago, and Wayne Wilcox.
