August 4, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 17 Club members and 1 guest today as Ken rang the bell for the first meeting of the eighth month.  Darrel was asked to give our Prayer of Thanks and he did with brevity.  Then we gave our Pledge of Allegiance before opening the meeting.   Moberly Rotarian, Brian Skaggs, was recognized as a Guest today. Wayne indicated the Courthouse Helipad was a point of discussion in the past with the County Commission. Hope to make it a reality soon with painted markings and lights.  Mark Samp was out of town, but, Richard noted that Mark has stated we are current with our District and Rotary International dues.

Dan was asked for an update on sunflowers and the weather forecast.  Big seed heads forming and we are overbooked for the dove hunt, but, he will find a spot for everyone.  Weather will be nice and cool with some chances of rain, but spotty.  Generally see rainfall as we approach State Fair time.  He reminded us that we can access a Paul Harris Fellowship for half price due to our Club’s points, as we have lost many members over the decades that were PHF and would like those numbers to grow.

Mark had traded with another member for today’s program, however, none appeared, so, our Leader asked each of us to give a brief bio.  Dan, Gerald, Roy, Merl, Mike C, and Wayne shared a few minutes of their life with us. Then we were adjourned.

Members present:  John Cochran, Mike Cochran, Jerry Crutchfield, Charles Fleming, Darrel Hansen,  Dub Hayes, Russ John, Clay Joiner, Gerald Link, Roy Morales, Mark Nichols, Ken Rathmann, Merl Riley, Tim Seidel, Dan Shepherd, Richard Tregnago, & Wayne Wilcox.
