August 18, 2017 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

There were 16 Huntsville Rotarians and 3 Guests attending today’s meeting at noon at Don’s Family Style Restaurant.  President Ken asked Bishop Roy to return our thanks to our Lord in Prayer, followed by our reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Guests introduced were,  Sam Richardson of the Moberly Club, and our program from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Ethan Fry and Roy Hardt.

There was no New or Old Business presented and the Secretary noted our minutes are posted on our website and our Treasurer indicated the dues were not coming in as expected.  Please send in your dues as soon as possible.  Jerry may have information about the Old Settler’s Pancake Breakfast and our Club tickets next meeting.  Our weather prognosticator gave us chances of storms next week and update on the dove hunt looked favorable.  Dan reminded us to bring a covered dish to the dove hunt supper.  He also provided us with bags of sweet corn following the meeting.

Today’s program was offered by Merl Riley and he introduced the Sheriff Department’s Deputies, Roy & Ethan.  They brought along their drone that was provided to the department with funds from the LERF which is was established several years ago to aid the Prosecuting Attorney’s office as well as the Sheriff’s office.  The drone has a long range flight capability with live feed video, and, stored video, and is sent out to scout or pursue suspects that may be in hiding.  It can also be utilized to look for missing persons over dense crops or rough terrain.  Nice tool evolved from technology.

Our Leader next asked Clay for the Last Word, then we were adjourned.  The calendar shows Mark Samp as program chair next Friday.
