April 25, 2018 Huntsville Rotary Club Minutes

Fifteen Huntsville Rotarians and one Moberly Rotarian Visitor, Bob Riley, met back at Don’s Family Style Buffet in Huntsville at noon today.  President Ken rang the bell to call the meeting to order at 12:30 pm and asked Reverend Dennis Gard to return our thanks to our Lord in prayer, followed by our reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Secretary-for-Life Richard noted the District Assembly would be held this Saturday and President-Elect Jerry indicated he would be attending.   Clay mentioned our annual donation to the “Shoes” program and a motion from Dan to donate $10 per member, totaling $230.00 was seconded and passed by voice vote.  Jerry will deliver the check this Saturday.

Visiting Rotarian Bob Riley was recognized as earning his 2nd Paul Harris Fellowship, and Daniel, as Foundation Chair, presented the honor to Mr. Riley.  Bob utilized a recent program by donating $500 and was matched through a points system to earn the coveted Paul Harris Medallion.  Foundation Chair, Dan, noted the program returns a percentage back from Rotary International to our District after a short term.  Next, weatherman Dan provided us with a mild to warm to hot forecast for next week, along with the possibility of thunderstorms due to high temps occurring.  Sunflower food plots for the annual Dove Hunt have been planted, and, also, sweet corn seed is in the ground.  Dove Man Dan is already receiving monies for the annual fundraiser for September 1.

Our Leader asked Roy about the Interact Club and he informed us we will be hosting around 20 students next Wednesday, May 2nd, at our Club meeting.  President Ken then asked Clay for the Last Word before adjourning the meeting.
